I got a 1+ hour assessment link directly, no recruiter call or context beforehand, just an automated email. I did the test, but there was no follow-up, not even an acknowledgement or results. It was disappointing and felt impersonal, especially for the time it took. Wouldn't recommend it if you have other choices.

The interview included a challenging editing test, which involved correcting text from non-native English speakers. This might be tough if you haven't done it much before. The test took about two hours. After the test, there was a virtual interview.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME APPLYING TO THIS COMPANY!!! Like many others have said here, they will send you three essays that are almost entirely unintelligible. I have 10 years of experience as an editor and decided I would apply to this company to earn some side cash. I stupidly ignored the other reviews here and decided to give the mock edits a crack. Unfortunately the prompts were written as if the author typed it in their native language and translated it through google translate to English. An absolute joke. I spent 7+ hours editing this document only to receive a rejection 30 minutes later. This company completely wastes your valuable time and doesn't even have the decency to have a human email you a rejection. You may be thinking that these are just one-off experiences, but that is highly unlikely, LOOK AT ALL OF THE REVIEWS HERE. Save your time. Don't play into this company's absurd practice of wasting your time with a tedious editing assignment. Scribendi, if you ever read this, shame on you. Have some more respect for the people who are applying to work for you.

So I had an initial multiple-choice Q&A, and then a "3 hour" proof-reading test. What everyone else says on here is correct... do not waste your time. The "assignment" took me close to 6 hours to get pitch perfect - though I was scoring between 90-95 on Grammarly once I put my own copy in after 2.5 hours. I used Grammarly and got the thumbs up with a score of 100/99/100 on the three excerpts which were very poor copy to start with. There were a few 'nice to have' changes which Grammarly would tell you about if you upgraded to a subscription...some of these were formatting.. given that I had already a score of 100 I didn't think I needed these. Anyhow the following day I got an automated email to tell me that there were too many errors in my document etc.... Really! Don't waste your time with this company.

Confirmed questions1 question
  • Proofread 3 excerpts, expected to take 3 hours, and return within 24 hours.
