Product Manager
I applied for a Product Manager role and only had a conversation with HR. It was a weird chat, focusing more on the difficult job market and my job search rather than my qualifications. HR seemed engaged, or at least acted like it, but then sent a generic rejection email two weeks later with no specific feedback. Interestingly, the same job reappeared on their website and LinkedIn soon after. Apparently, the company has a consistently bad reputation according to my contacts. They claim to be 'searching for the right candidate' but keep reposting the position, suggesting they're unsure of what they're actually looking for. I've noticed this PM opening advertised many times. Another concerning sign is that they've progressively lowered the salary range, indicating a lack of commitment to attracting qualified professionals.

Success Manager
This interview process was really long. First, I had to do a written self-assessment. Then, there was an online phonescreen where I recorded myself answering questions. After that, I had to do a mock coaching session. Finally, there was a 90-minute background interview. I finished all of those parts, but then I never heard back from anyone. Not even a courtesy message saying they were moving on with other candidates. I even sent a follow-up email weeks later saying I had another offer and withdrew my application, but still got no response. It was a super disappointing experience.

Success Manager
The interview process at Screencastify was a refreshing change. It included several short written assignments, a more in-depth interview about my job history, a presentation, and a chance to meet other team members. I liked that the written parts gave me enough time to showcase my experience and thinking, unlike brief phone interviews where it's easy to stumble. Not having a time limit was great because I had a demanding full-time job. The performance task required the most prep, involving delivering a provided presentation with my own unique approach. They gave me all the necessary materials, like slides, speaker notes, and helpful videos, making it hard to fail. My task was just to demonstrate my presentation and audience engagement skills. The process had 6 steps, but most were quick except for the performance task. It took about 5 weeks to get an offer. It wasn't too time-consuming for me, likely due to my prior experience. It felt like a good fit from the start, making it stress-free.

User Experience Designer
It was a 6-step process that lasted almost 2 weeks. I liked that they were upfront about salary and the role, but I really disliked how they couldn't keep me updated on the interview process. They also gave me a design challenge where I had to design a specific flow for one of their products. I completed it and added some features. A few weeks later, I checked their current website and saw that many of my ideas were being used for their product. I wouldn't recommend interviewing with this company if you don't want your work to be used for free.
