Sales Representative
My interview experience started with a good chat. But then the interviewer asked me to share my screen on Microsoft Teams. My MacBook's extra security measures stopped me from doing this right away. This shows I'm careful with tech and my privacy. If I could have shared my screen, they would have seen I'm tech-savvy. I've even helped new people with tech stuff. But they didn't see that and didn't pick me for the job. It feels like they care more about small tech skills, like knowing how to favorite a website, than about my sales skills and potential. It's a bummer that a company would miss out on good talent for such small things. I wouldn't want to work for a place that doesn't see all of what a candidate brings. It's a shame they might lose good people over something so minor.
- Besides money, what is your motivation?
Compliance Reporting Specialist
It was honestly the most chill interview I've had. My initial jitters faded fast 'cause they made me feel super welcome and comfy. The team laid out the job details clearly and really well.
- How would you go about explaining compliance findings to people who aren't in compliance?
Software Engineer
The recruiter contacted me about this role a month prior but then went silent. When I followed up, they admitted they were unsure whether to hire full-time employees or outsource the positions. About a week later, they decided to hire one full-time employee, which I see now as a potential red flag. I completed the phone screen, which went reasonably well. The recruiter then proposed an in-person interview, and we scheduled a date and time. However, just 30 minutes later, they asked if I'd be open to a contract-to-hire (CTH) instead. I stated that wasn't my preference. They assured me it was fine, claiming they were just being cautious because they had recently let someone go who wasn't working out. This should have been another red flag. I ended up dedicating a significant portion of my weekend to their technical exercises. When the interview day arrived, they didn't even bring up the take-home work. I first met with the manager, who asked if I had any questions. Following that, I had a group interview where each technical lead asked me questions. The team seemed friendly, but it became clear they were looking for something different. Overall, considering the initial indecisiveness, I probably should have passed on this opportunity. I'd rather know these things upfront than discover them after starting the job.
- Can you explain the keywords for data attributes validation?
- What is the function of locking?
- What components make up the repository pattern?
Lifecycle Marketing Coordinator
The interviewers were really nice and kept giving me good feedback, making me feel pretty good about my chances. It was a bummer not to get the job, especially since I thought the conversation went well. I was also hoping for a more personal rejection message than the generic one I got the next day, particularly since they said I'd hear back by the middle of the week. That timing felt a bit off after all the effort I put in. All in all, it was a professional process, but I just wish the follow-up communication had been as thoughtful as the interview itself.
