Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Scotts Lawn Service.
Sales Representative
I had a quick 5-minute chat with the sales manager. They really sold me a dream, promising things that didn't pan out at all. We also discussed career growth, which, looking back, never really materialized. Honestly, the entire experience left me pretty let down.
- What makes you the best candidate for this position?
Sales Representative
I saw the job on Craigslist and called the number they listed. After a quick chat, I got an interview. A few days later, they made me an offer. The interview was pretty straightforward; they laid out what the job entails and just asked a couple of questions about my past jobs. It was an easy process overall. The final step was a standard drug test, which also checks for nicotine because of the big fertilizer tanks on site, making smoking a safety issue.
- What are your career aspirations for the next five years?
- Can you discuss your previous work experiences?
Territory Sales Representative
It's a face-to-face interview after which, if hired, you'll have to take a bunch of tests to get certified. The first tests are modules you need to finish before you can drive the company truck. Then, you'll take a test through the state to become a certified pesticide applicator. While you're taking these tests, they'll have you shadow some experienced TSRs out in the field. After you've been shown the proper techniques and you're certified, they'll let you go out into the field by yourself.
- Do you enjoy working outdoors?
