First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt, P.C..
Associate Attorney
The interview felt like a burden on the partners, possibly due to their offices being under renovation at the time. Despite this, the staff was very nice and made me feel welcome.
- How does Schwabe stand out from other firms?
Intellectual Property Legal Secretary/Assistant
I applied online over the weekend and got a call from a recruiter on Tuesday to schedule a Skype interview for the next day. However, Skype didn't work on their end, so I ended up having a 20-minute phone interview with a different recruiter instead. It seemed to go well; she was nice and said I should hear back in a few days and explained the next steps. I sent a thank you email that evening but got no reply. After more than two weeks, I sent a follow-up email, but still no response. It's been over a month since the interview and I've heard nothing, even though the job is still posted on their site.
- Can you share an instance where you exceeded expectations in your role?
Patent Agent
It was a pretty intense interview process with a group of managers. There was also a group of lawyers from non-technical backgrounds who were there to see if I'd be a good fit for the company culture. They asked me technical questions specifically about my background to gauge my technical knowledge.
- If you had to draft a patent application in a subject you weren't familiar with, what would be your process?
Associate
This was a pretty standard legal interview. There were a few rounds, including a panel interview. They asked a lot of questions about my experiences outside of law, which I think was to see if I'd be a good personality fit. Everyone was really nice, and it felt pretty informal.
- Can you share an experience where you stepped outside of your comfort zone?
