Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Schrödinger.
Materials Scientist
It started with a round with the supervisor, then a virtual on-site interview which was pretty tough because it lasted for hours and I had to stay super focused. They asked similar research-based questions to see how I would tackle problems. I think being honest and consistent in my answers is important.
- Describe how you defined and solved problems during your thesis research.
Machine Learning Scientist
It was an in-person interview, though most interviewers joined via zoom. I talked with different team members and there was a coding interview. The coding interview was the same as the one I completed during my internship.
- Can you explain what active learning is?
- In what ways does active learning aid in hyper parameter tuning?
Principal Scientist
First, I had a phone screen with the hiring manager. Then, an HR screen. After that, I visited the company for an on-site. Everyone was friendly and asked a lot of questions. They also gave me time to ask some questions back, which I appreciated.
- What is your motivation for joining this company?
