It was a bit informal. I spoke with the principal and assistant principal who called me out of the blue. The vibe was good, and the questions were what you'd expect. I liked the principal and felt I could learn a lot from him. The waiting, though, was tough. I felt like they kept me hanging for a whole month. My sense is I wasn't their top pick and they were just keeping me interested. I didn't have any prior teaching experience and my degree wasn't in education. But they saw something in me and decided to take a chance.

I sent my resume and cover letter to the principal via email. A few days later, I got a response to set up the interview. It was just me and the principal. He seemed tired by the end of the day and kept yawning. Most questions were from a Gallup poll about what makes a good teacher. They were pretty easy, except for the one about what my current principal would say about me. That one really threw me off. I overthought it, imagining him calling my principal right after to check my honesty. I didn't answer that question well, I should have just made something up. My reputation is good, but not perfect. Some questions are better to BS, and others are better answered truthfully. I chose honesty, which I think cost me the offer. So, watch out for that question! Good luck.

The interview process was simple and easy to navigate. They were always quick to respond, so checking your email and the candidate portal regularly is important. Some interviews were conducted via Zoom, while others were not. Flexibility was a key aspect of the process.

It was a deep, panel interview, but after it was done, they didn't communicate with me at all. I was left to figure out I wasn't chosen. They ghosted me, which was super unprofessional and a big letdown.
