Went for an internship at Scholastic Canada. Got to the office and had to wait a few minutes outside because no one was at the front desk. Was then let in and shown to a nice, homey conference room. Had an interview with one person. They started by talking about Scholastic, their values, and what the internship would be like. I figured out pretty quickly I wasn't that into it, so the rest didn't feel that important.

The interview process lasted about 3-4 weeks. It started with a phone interview with the Hiring Manager, followed by an on-site interview at Scholastic's NY offices. The HM was very friendly and enthusiastic about her role, appearing to genuinely enjoy interacting with people. The initial interview was straightforward, focusing on my resume and my interest in Scholastic. The on-site interview at the office was relaxed and conversational. They asked questions about Scholastic to gauge my familiarity with the company. A downside was the delayed response; they promised an update within a week for the spring internship to accommodate my schedule but took nearly two weeks. What was frustrating was the lack of response to my follow-up emails from the Scholastic NY team. The HM eventually responded, informing me that they had hired someone the previous week.

After submitting your cover letter and resume, you'll come into the office for an in-person interview, followed by an editing test. They're really good about replying to thank you emails and any questions you have. They also give you a tour of the office, showing off cool stuff like the trunk the 4th Harry Potter books came in and other childhood icons. It really gives you a good feel for the company culture and how the office is laid out.
