Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Schibsted.
Head of Department
They have a fantastic interview process where they make you feel valued. They always make an effort to respond personally and provide specific feedback on your performance.
- Could you describe your professional history and explain your interest in joining our company?
Management Trainee
easy online application for the first round, interview included in an online assessment center. interviewer skilled and nice. good but confusion about language, demanding norwegian fair enough but then stuff was in swedish :D
- Can you describe a situation where you encountered a challenge and how you successfully navigated it?
Manager
Started with an HR phone screen, about 30 minutes, non-technical questions. Then scheduled 2 on-site interviews with hub directors for the same day, but 3 hours apart. They didn't ask about my availability, so be ready to take the whole day off. For managers, there are 5 interviews: System design, Leadership (only for managers), Coding, System architecture, CS fundamentals, and Product owner review. My first interview was system design, about an hour, discussing how I'd build a TinyURL-like service. The second was leadership, where the director talked about himself for 10 mins then we discussed my last project. HR called back about 2 weeks later saying the feedback wasn't great and they wanted a different type of manager. My overall impression was neutral.
- Can you describe how you would engineer a service for URL shortening?
- Could you share details about a past project, including challenges faced and their resolutions?
