Went through the interview process twice before. This time, couldn't get past the first round. They said it was a 'conversation', but it felt like an interview. Got asked some intense behavioral questions, more than I'd expect for a first round. The recruiter asked how I'd manage coding and production, then mentioned something about Unity development being required, which wasn't in the job description (it stated Unreal only). I was surprised and pointed out something on their website. Also, they asked if I was okay with significantly lower pay for this level. It felt like a lot of steps for just the first round, an hour long, and for below-average industry pay for a senior engineering manager.

After around 5 interviews, they told me I was a better fit for a lower position than Senior (Mid-Level engineer). We talked about it, and I said I was still interested in the role because it met my salary goals. After I confirmed my interest, they went silent for about a week and a half. I finally followed up and was told I didn't get the job... Not the kind of communication I expected from a company that seriously considered me, especially after I invested so much time interviewing.

After submitting my application, I was given a design test to complete. Then I was interviewed by a few designers already working there alongside a rep from HR. I was asked questions about the design test that I submitted and some other questions about previous experience working on teams.

Confirmed questions2 questions
  • Can you elaborate on your responses to the design test?
  • What is your experience with teamwork in previous roles?
