First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at SCC Soft Computer Inc..
Service Desk Analyst
Interview conducted in two stages. First a phone call with HR, where they go over the job details and do a language interview. Then a face-to-face meeting with more technical discussions, and a call where the manager was also there.
- Can you list the components of a PC?
Administrative Support Assistant
I found the job online and applied. They got back to me and asked me to print and fill out some extra application forms before coming in, which is super important, don't be lazy and show up without them filled out. When I got there, I had to sign in and they took my picture for a visitor's pass. Then, I was put on a computer to take a test on basic Microsoft Office skills, like Word, Excel, and Outlook. The test was a bit tricky if you rely on shortcuts or right-clicking because you really had to use the ribbon menu. After the test, if you passed, you'd go in for interviews. You start with one person and then move on to people higher up if they like you. The first interviewer was pretty standard. The second one was nicer but asked standard questions too, though she did say some negative things about other departments, but it seemed like she meant it in a friendly way. The third person seemed a little annoyed, and I think we had some miscommunication. He questioned my previous job's pay, saying something like 'Surely this couldn't pay the bills.' I thought that was unprofessional and funny because I was actually paid much better than their offer. They seem to want someone smart and ambitious who wants to grow with the company, not someone who will just stay put.
- Tell me about your plans for the business.
- Can you give an example of a hypothetical business plan?
- Tell me about your previous job and your compensation there.
Human Resources Assistant
I was brought into a conference room, where I submitted my application. They told me I'd be doing a Microsoft Office Test and an HR Attention to Details test. I did those tests. After that, I had interviews with a few people, which I thought went well. Then, a man came in to interview me. He was really rude and condescending. I think maybe because he's a big shot and related to the owners, he feels entitled to be snooty. I wasn't impressed. He grilled me with dumb questions and tried to make me look stupid. I also got conflicting information about when I'd hear about a hiring decision from two different people, which just shows they're unorganized and don't communicate well.
- What is it about family-owned companies that appeals to you?
- Tell me your understanding of family-owned businesses.
- Can you define Compliance for me?
Technical Support Specialist
Applied online, then got a call about a week later from HR for more resume details. HR offered an interview, though there was some confusion on dates/times which a follow-up call sorted out. The facilities were nice and the process seemed well organized. An HR person greeted me, gave me a packet with benefits info (free health plan for nonsmokers, subsidized lunch). The hiring manager came in, introduced himself, and asked relevant questions about my skills, goals, and expectations. He thoroughly explained performance reviews and employee development support. He's looking for someone persistent with technical issues, who documents troubleshooting and research before asking for help. Someone who uses downtime wisely, like learning new tech, and handles stress well during busy times. The manager briefly left to get someone who I think was his boss; this person introduced himself by name only and explained the next steps, which was a bit awkward. Now I'm waiting to hear if I made the shortlist.
- What is your response to companies that document employees for being a few minutes late a few times a year?
