Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Scandit.
Talent Acquisition Manager
The interview process was very well structured and fast-paced. I went through 4 interview rounds, meeting with both the team and leadership. The atmosphere was nice, and the building was cool with chill people.
- Could you describe your approach to sourcing candidates for a DevOps role, including the key skills you'd identify, the platforms you'd use, and your methodology for candidate selection?
Talent Acquisition Manager
After submitting my application, I received an invitation for a Zoom call within a few days. It was a peer-to-peer exchange where my experience and personality were the focus. I really liked that I was told the next concrete steps right at the end of the conversation and a decision was also made directly during the talk. Within a few days, I had further conversations to get to know the team. I was thoroughly prepared for my presentation in Zurich. I was welcomed extremely warmly and my stay was meticulously planned in advance. All further steps afterwards were also transparent, clearly communicated, and carried out very professionally.

Tech Sourcer
The entire hiring process stretched for nearly a month, involving five distinct stages. I noticed a recurring pattern of being asked the same questions repeatedly. There was also an assignment that took me a few hours to complete. The final stage was a presentation involving six team members, which included a contractor and someone who had only been with the company for two weeks. Honestly, I felt the number of people on the call made it difficult to manage effectively, but that's how it was. The issues began when they recorded the meeting without obtaining my consent or even notifying me beforehand. They proceeded with some questions, many of which had been asked in earlier stages. Due to time constraints, as they mentioned, I could only ask a few questions. When I brought up my cheat sheet for boolean searches, they requested I share it, which I declined. They also inquired about information I wasn't comfortable disclosing, such as the specific platforms my current company uses for recruitment and our exact hiring strategy. I felt more like I was being investigated than evaluated as a candidate. Following the interview, I was informed I'd receive feedback the following Monday. However, I didn't get any update on my application until Thursday, likely because I had to email them to ask about their decision. I get that people can be busy, but after such a long interview process and putting in so much effort, it's only decent to provide some feedback and perhaps explain any delays. The most disappointing part was the complete lack of actual feedback in their rejection email, beyond the rejection itself. I've requested feedback multiple times, but they've ignored my emails, leaving me with no response. I don't see myself working for this company, and I don't think I'm the right fit for them either. Still, I felt foolish after giving my all to people who can't spare 5 minutes, either by call or email, to offer constructive feedback for my improvement. I believe the interview process was excessive, and my overall candidate experience was terrible. I would never treat my candidates this way, so I cannot recommend this company. Based on my experience, I'd advise them to shorten the process and definitely cultivate a better environment so candidates can perform at their best.
