First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Scaled Agile.
Information Security and IT Director
The interview process was pretty straightforward. It started with an HR screen, then there were three interviews with different teams. Everything went smoothly, and they kept me updated throughout. The way the interview process was laid out made me feel like Scaled Agile is a place I could work for a long time.
- Can you describe your approach to evaluating, selecting, implementing, and adopting a new technology?
Motion Graphic Designer
The entire process took about five weeks. It started with a recruiter phone screen a week after I submitted my resume. Five days later, I had a video call with two team members. Then, they sent me a motion graphic test to check my skills, creativity, and brand fit. After they reviewed it, I was invited to their Boulder HQ for a five-hour onsite interview with 12 people from different teams, which was three weeks into the process. They covered my travel expenses. The interviews included one-on-one and small group sessions. I met the President/COO and Director of Communications, which was great. The office was impressive. After the onsite, I sent thank-you notes and waited. The recruiter gave a vague timeline for next steps, which passed without an update. My follow-ups were ignored. Two weeks after the interview, I left a voicemail for the recruiter, who responded with a generic email saying they were moving on with other candidates. I was shocked by this impersonal rejection, especially given my experience and investment. Scaled Agile needs to improve its communication, perhaps by changing recruitment partners. The long wait between the interview and rejection caused anxiety, and the lack of a phone call for the rejection was unprofessional. They should only give a test to a final candidate, not before, as portfolios are usually enough for designers.
- Have you worked in an Agile setting before?
Account Executive
I started with a call with their recruiter. She wasn't very knowledgeable about the office culture or the role, but it was a simple chat. Her goal was to screen me for an in-person interview, which the office manager then set up. I met with four Scaled Agile team members face-to-face, followed by a meeting with the director. After I followed up with everyone I met with, I waited a week to check in with the recruiter about my application status. She ignored me until the next week when I got a generic rejection email. None of the Scaled Agile folks I contacted responded, which was pretty disappointing.
- Based on the basic job description and the new website, what do you think you'd be selling?
- Can you explain the SAFE framework?
- What is the meaning of Agile?
Editor, Learning Assets
Got quick feedback after submitting my resume. Went through three interview rounds: two 30-minute ones and a 45-minute panel interview. The interviews were good, even though someone was late for the panel. I was told I'd hear back by the end of the next business day. After waiting a bit and following up, I still hadn't heard anything. The job posting was also taken down, and like before, no response. I felt this was really disrespectful, especially since I put a lot of time into the process.
- What's your strategy for time management?
- How do you adapt when a project's deadline is approaching?
- Did you ever create your own curriculum?
