They asked about my leadership style, my ASC background/knowledge base, and my favorite book. Then they went into my resume, asking why I got certain certifications, my typing ability, previous work experiences, and my favorite previous role. They also emphasized long-term goals, willingness to relocate, and flexibility on geography and remote vs. in-person roles.

I had two interviews, and they both went the same way. First, a phone screening, which was pretty standard with questions, though it felt colder and less friendly than with other companies I've talked to. I did my best in that first interview, and the TA person said she'd suggest an in-person interview with the Hiring Manager. A couple of weeks passed, and after I emailed and called a few times with no response, I got a rejection email. Then, in a second email, the TA person realized mid-interview that I wasn't what she was looking for (maybe she didn't read my resume beforehand?), so I didn't expect or want another round. I will say they aggressively ask for salary ranges very early on, and since I wasn't really liking the vibe anyway, I gave an upper-end figure, and they didn't seem surprised.

I applied for the Purchasing Coordinator position in early November. I heard back the first week of December to schedule a phone interview. The questions asked were in-depth and seemed to be corporate-level questions about purchasing and surgery center experience. When I asked why the position was open, since the previous Purchasing Coordinator was a scrub technician, the CEO, Bruce Dudley, told me the position isn't actually available right now. He said they're just gauging interest for future growth if they expand to all 5 operating rooms from the current 1 due to accreditation. I'd advise against taking a job at East Pavilion Surgery Center in Portland, OR with CEO Bruce Dudley unless you have a signed contract. He interviews and seeks out other candidates for your role to 'see what other candidates are like if they grow.' Based on Bruce's background, he's new to managing a surgery center and previously managed sales for Pfizer. I have concerns about the management at East Pavilion Surgery Center and suggest proceeding with caution.

The hiring process involved 3 interviews total. The first interview had 3 interviewers and they were all very friendly. The second interview was different. One person from the first interview was present, and another person was taking notes. Some of the questions were a bit strange, but I think they were just trying to understand me better. The third interview was with 2 new people, but they interviewed me separately. Everyone was very nice, but having 3 interviews to drag out the process was a bit annoying in the end because I had to take unusually long breaks from my current job or take time off.
