First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at SC Department of Juvenile Justice.
Community Specialist
I applied online back in June 2014 and was called to interview on July 30. I met with my potential supervisor and the program director. They seemed nice and mentioned they'd be writing notes throughout my responses, so I mostly saw the tops of their heads. It felt like a pretty straightforward process. I had to submit a writing sample in the lobby and got a brief tour of the office spaces. The interview itself took about 30 minutes, and they were quite detailed in explaining the role.
- What is your greatest need?
Program Monitor
I interviewed with the Program Monitor Staff. They asked me a total of 10 questions. Each staff member I met with asked me two questions about my qualifications for the role. It was a sit-down interview, where I was across a table from the interviewing staff. The whole thing lasted about 1.5 hours. They had my resume to look over.
- Why are you the best fit for this job?
Job Developer
So, it was a panel interview, there were 4 people on the panel and the Director was there. They gave me details about the program before the interview. I had to answer some serious questions about my experience.
- Can you describe your approach to organization and time management?
- Describe a situation where you helped someone find a job, outlining the steps you took.
- What makes you the ideal candidate for this role?
Correctional Officer
The interview process was quick and easy. The longest part was the hands-on training, but it was very simple. It's a great company with great benefits and opportunities. I learned a lot that could be useful in the real world.
- Can you lift 50 lbs?
