The process was smooth. It took about 2-3 weeks to complete the interview, technical test, and referee requests. I guess it really depends on the nature of the requirement, team, or the urgency of the role. Mine was straightforward, though.

I applied for an internship, and though the hiring managers were great, dealing with HR was really bad. The managers were good, they explained the job and asked fair questions, and let me ask mine too. But trying to get a hold of HR was a nightmare; they never picked up or replied to emails for days, even after I'd gone through two interview rounds. I got rejected by an automated email, and when I asked for feedback, again, no response. The interviewers were fine, but the lack of communication from HR made the whole thing unprofessional and discouraging. I really hope they get better at communicating with candidates.

After I applied online, I got an email a while later to come in for an interview and a test. The interview was with a panel of three people: the head of digital, social, and editorial. They were nice and easy to talk to, and they asked a lot of questions and were thorough. After the interview, I had to do a writing test where I was given a press release and had 45 minutes to write a story. Overall, it was a straightforward process.

We did a team interview, a journalism test, and a language proficiency test to see if you'd be a good fit. They asked about your background, if you knew about SBS's audience, media law, and current events. The interviewers were really nice and helpful. We got back to you in about two weeks and gave feedback whether you got the job or not.
