Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Save the Children US.
Advisor
So I went through this interview process with StC, and even though the first parts were pretty decent and engaging (though a little weird because of the company's internal changes for the job I wanted), the interview itself and what came after was just a mess. I was told I'd get feedback by the end of the week, or the next week at the latest, but nothing. Weeks went by with no news, and they just stopped responding even when I reached out; which isn't surprising because other people are dealing with the same bad behavior. This lack of follow-up made me feel like they didn't value me as a candidate and made me wonder about how things are organized internally over there. It's ironic because a big part of the interview was about things like managing time, communicating clearly, and being super organized. But they couldn't even stick to their own timeline, which totally goes against what they said they valued. Honestly, it feels like they weren't prepared or there's a bigger issue with how they operate, even with senior people who've been there forever. My tip is, if you're gonna tell someone they'll hear back by Friday or next week, just send a quick email. Being on time with communication shows you respect people and are professional, and not meeting your own deadlines makes your organization, your team, and you look bad. A hiring process that's consistent and open not only respects candidates but also backs up the values your company claims to care about. So, seriously, step it up.

I had 2 rounds of interviews. The first round was with the recruiter for the role and a colleague. The second was with 2 more senior employees. The interviewers asked typical questions, including behavioral questions specifically related to the job description for the role.
