It was a panel interview with 5-6 members of the team. It was a very interactive and pleasant experience. It didn't feel like an interview, rather a conversation with a group of scientists.

Behavioral Presentation

Got a call about two months after applying. They flew me in five days later for the interview. The first night, I had dinner with the PI. It was a pretty informal dinner, but still an interview so they asked typical interview questions. The next day, I gave a presentation first thing in the morning, got shown the facilities, and met almost everyone in that specific building. I had lunch with a current postdoc and met a few more staff working there. It ended with a closing. They told me I would hear back in three days to two weeks, but I never heard from them even though the position was filled the next day.

About 3 months after applying online, I was invited for an on-site interview. The evening before, my host showed me around town and took me to dinner. On the interview day, we did a driving tour of the site and then a tour of the facility. The interview itself had two panels: the first with 3 senior staff and the second with 2 potential coworkers. The only technical questions were about my previous research.

The interview was done virtually on WebEx. Several hiring managers were present and took turns asking questions. It went for about an hour, and I had a few minutes at the end to ask my questions.
