I was contacted by a recruiter through email for an initial phone screen. This phone screen turned out to be a video call with the VP. After that, the next step was a video call with the hiring manager. They had a follow-up meeting, and then I was invited onsite to meet with about 6 people for 3 hours. They expedited my process over 4 days because I mentioned I was in the final stages with other companies. The onsite was great, the recruiting team made me feel welcome and comfortable. I've been with the company for 5 months now and I'm loving it.

My interview process at Sauce Labs was really thoughtful and intricate, though it ended sadly. It wasn't an easy process at all. Tristan, the recruiting coordinator, was super proactive and accommodating from the start, even going out of his way to prep me for each stage. The first round was a phone screen with a CSM Manager where they asked about my experience and salary expectations. Then, I was invited on-site for the first round of interviews. This next part can be tough if you have a busy work schedule: the total time spent interviewing and preparing was significant - 1 hour for the phone screen, 3.5-4 hours for the first on-site with 8 people, and another 3.5-4 hours for the second on-site interview/presentation with 3 people, plus 2+ hours for prep. The first round of 7 1:1 interviews on-site was enjoyable but exhausting. The second interview was 3 business days later, requiring me to prepare for a role-playing Kick-Off call and a presentation. I got the guidelines two business days before, during my busiest week. The guidelines said technical questions wouldn't be emphasized, but I studied them anyway, and I'm glad I did because I was asked technical, infosec, procedural, and product-related questions, plus some unusual ones about future customer dissatisfaction. I felt accomplished for doing it quickly but worried it wasn't enough time. The feedback felt unfair, based on limited interactions and incorrect assumptions. However, the positive feedback was glowing, and I was grateful for the clear communication instead of being ghosted or getting an automated rejection after a long process.

I interviewed with the hiring manager for an individual contributor role. Even though I have prior leadership experience, the interview turned into a consulting session where I was asked about how I had previously structured my teams and resolved issues. There was also uncertainty about whether they could hire me remotely given my state of residence. It's been a couple of weeks, and I still don't know if that remote hiring question was ever resolved.
