First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Satellites Unlimited.
Satellite Technician
The interview was done by an outside contractor for SUI. First, it was an online audio/video interview on Zoom with about a dozen other people. The interviewer asked illegal questions about age, marital status, if I had kids, and veteran status. The next round was a phone interview where they asked the same illegal questions again. It was weird that there were no women in the first group interview. Overall, it was a really unprofessional interview process and SUI could get sued.
- Could you state if you are a military veteran, and if so, what was your rank at discharge and the nature of your discharge?
- In what year did you graduate from high school?
- Do you have any outside issues, like family responsibilities, that might make you miss work?
Satellite Installation Technician
The whole hiring process was pretty easy going from applying to the interview. Once my application was accepted, a recruiter gave me a call to check my details and to let me know how demanding the job actually is. I guess they do that to filter out candidates who don't fully grasp what it takes to be a satellite installer. After I answered the recruiter's questions well, they set up an interview. The interview itself was actually pretty fun. I had a great time chatting with the manager. The conversation flowed so easily, I really thought I'd get an offer. But, less than a week later, I got an email saying they decided not to move forward. I just wish they would have told me why I didn't get selected. Besides not getting the job, the entire experience was pleasant and straightforward.

Satellite Technician
I applied online and got a call the next day from a recruiter who explained the job well and asked a lot of questions as a sort of pre-interview. A few days later I had an in-person interview. I arrived on time, but it seemed they weren't expecting me yet. The interview was quite long and thorough, almost 2 hours. They asked a lot of wide-ranging questions, some very relevant, others not so much, but I think they just wanted to get to know me. After the interview, there was a lot of paperwork. Everyone was really friendly and easy to talk to.

Field Service Manager
After applying online, you'll do an online assessment. Then, the recruiting team will reach out to candidates who seem like a good fit. If you pass the phone interview, you'll head to the local office for a hands-on mechanical test and a one-on-one meeting with someone from the office staff.
