After you finish all the paperwork on the website portal, a scheduler in your region might give you a call. It's important for them to hear your positive vibe when talking about any previous retail interactions, like sales, ordering, stocking shelves, or even customer service in other areas. If your area needs merch people, the scheduler will email you a link to the employee website area, where you can set up your own login. You can then look at all the jobs in your area or across the USA. If you have to travel, you might get reimbursed $5.00 for gas if you drive over 30 miles one-way, and $10 if it's over 60 miles. Some jobs involve working with a team, others solo. Don't aim for Team Lead until you've worked at least a year in different settings and have all your tools. Don't expect speedy help from schedulers if you need more guidance. Being nice to store staff and asking questions early on will save you precious time. These jobs are time-sensitive because your company won't get future contracts if you take too long. If you're new to merchandising, go ask other contractors about their work for tips. Your interviewer will probably seem really happy to have you, even with no experience, especially in the spring when we get the most contracts. Be ready to work odd hours, with few or no breaks, and no sitting except for lunch.
