First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at SAS.
Analytical Consultant
There were 3 interview rounds. First was a 30 min call with the recruiter about benefits, salary expectations, and general questions. Second was a 30 min call with the team manager and a senior analytical consultant, mainly a get-to-know-you chat about my work experience, it felt pretty conversational. Third was a 1hr30 interview with the whole team. It included a technical SAS coding walkthrough/problem solving and behavioral/STAR questions, with plenty of time at the end to chat with the team and ask my questions. The offer depends on passing a drug screen and background check.
- Describe a situation where you had to make a decision without enough information.
Consultant
So there were five interviews in total, with different people from all over the company. It started with the area manager and another consultant, then I spoke with HR, then some sales people, then some technical people, and finally, I had a follow-up chat with the area manager. They didn't really have any set questions; it was pretty laid-back, mostly to see if I'd fit in with the company culture. It was a good chance for me to ask questions too, to see if it felt right for me. Just so you know, they do a really thorough background check, including your finances, because you'll be working with clients like banks and other financial institutions or in secure facilities.
- What makes you believe you're a good fit for this role?
Technical Consultant
So, I was contacted by a recruiter, and had a phone interview with her first. The following week, they set up an onsite interview which was about an hour or two long. I met with a regional manager, a project manager, and a senior consultant. The project manager focused on my personality, the senior consultant really dug into my knowledge of data warehousing, and the manager wanted to understand my work mindset. Like, one question was 'Why do you come to work every day?'
- Can you tell me about your past experiences?
- Describe how you handle challenging situations.
- What motivates you to come to work daily?
