First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Sarcos Technology and Robotics Corporation.
Software Engineer
I had two phone interviews initially for character and background assessment. After that, I was given an async coding problem set to complete. Then, there was a review session over Zoom for the coding problems. Finally, I had an in-person tour. Everyone was really nice and welcoming, it was a very positive experience overall.
- What is it about this company that interests you the most?
Data Engineer
I was contacted by a recruiter via LinkedIn. The first step was a 60-minute meeting with the Director of Engineering. It seemed to go okay, but I didn't get a really clear picture of what the role actually entails, and the interviewer seemed a bit distracted. They did a technical interview and a standard check on whether I'd be a good personality fit for the team.
- Are you familiar with parquet files?
- Can you describe how you visualize time series data?
Product Manager
The HR person who interviewed me was nice and scheduled things fast. They got back to me pretty quickly. I didn't get the job, but I'd try again. Their product is kind of weird though. The robot looks like those big mechs from Avatar or anime, which is a bit creepy. The VR teleoperated robot seems a bit better, but using VR on a construction site would be a joke, especially with their customers. It seems like a big jump from a DoD contractor to a B2B company, both for the product and for public relations. I'm not sure they've really made that transition yet.
- Can you tell me why you are interested in Sarcos?
- What unique skills or background do you possess that would be valuable to us?
Technical Writer
So, I had a phone interview that was followed pretty quickly by an in-person one. The in-person was kinda weird, the three people I talked to seemed to have totally different ideas about the job and weren't really on the same page. After that, like weeks went by with no word. I hit up the recruiter and they said they were still interviewing people. Then, more weeks with no contact. I reached out again and they asked for writing samples, which I sent right away. After that, more weeks of silence. Then I reached out again and they asked for something more specific, which I also sent immediately. Then months passed with no contact. I couldn't get ahold of anyone and basically gave up. The communication after the first interview was just terrible. Plus, the way the managers acted during the interview, it would take a lot for me to even consider working with them again. Totally frustrating and a waste of my time.
- Tell me about the systems you've worked with and your experience using them.
