First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Santa Clara Family Health Plan.
Data Analyst
It was a one-hour interview with three interviewers who took notes as I answered. The first 30 minutes were focused on SQL, and the next 30 minutes involved a discussion about my experience and some technical questions.
- Can you tell us why you want to work here?
- What made you decide to pursue a career as a Data Analyst?
- Can you explain how you've utilized indexing?
Program Manager
The interview process was quick and only 2 rounds (first was a phone screen, second was a panel interview with 3 individuals). Interview was going well, but they asked the same question in different forms. The director decided to go on her phone towards the end which was highly unprofessional and it gave me a reason to realize it isn't a work environment I would thrive in. 3 weeks went by before I emailed HR to ask (mainly as a courtesy since they should have emailed) and they send an automated reply. In my opinion, the company lacks professionalism in the interview space.
- Tell me about a time you had to juggle multiple tasks and decide which ones to focus on first.
Business Systems Analyst
I applied online via Indeed and had two interview rounds. The first was a phone screening with the Hiring Manager. The second round was a technical screening focused on SQL, conducted by the hiring manager and another manager. They gave me remote access to a database with 3-4 tables, and I had 40 minutes to write about 6-7 SQL queries. I answered about 80-90% correctly. No other questions were asked. A few days later, I got a rejection email from HR. I was disappointed because I was expecting a third round.
- Could you write an SQL query that joins three tables?
- Using MIN/MAX functions, how would you find the youngest patient?
- How would you determine the count of patients who were active during 2019?
Application Developer
The hiring process was a bit drawn out. It started with an HR phone screen. Following that, there was an hour-long technical interview focused entirely on SQL, which was enjoyable despite a shaky RDP connection. The next step was a panel interview with several managers. The CTO asked a lot about my willingness to work extra hours, like nights and weekends. Finally, they requested references. It seems the HR contact asking for references had a less-than-stellar interaction with two of my references, who mentioned she asked quite a few odd questions.
- The technical interview involved SQL and reading data with .NET, and it was open book.
- The panel interview was mostly fine, but I think they were looking for me to confirm I'd work late or on weekends.
