Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Sanmina.
Process Engineer
I submitted my application and waited about a month before a recruiter reached out. First, I had an introductory call with HR, and then I set up a meeting with the Department Manager. After that, I was interviewed by the manager and a Senior Process Engineer.
- Can you tell me about your experience with continuous improvement initiatives?
NPI Engineer
Had a phone call to check if I was still interested. Then had a remote interview and they said I'd hear back in a week. I didn't hear anything so I sent a follow up email a week and a half later and they told me they had moved forward with other candidates.
- Why are you interested in working for this company?
- What is your understanding of our business?
- What are your long-term career aspirations?
Senior Manufacturing Engineer
I sent my resume to HR, and they quickly asked about my salary expectations. The hiring manager then called and we had a good conversation, leading to an on-site interview with HR. During the on-site, I met with five people, and it felt positive. The hiring manager focused more on the workplace and assumed my resume showed strong technical skills, as he didn't ask for specifics. He mentioned I was the first candidate and expected me to be the best. However, it's been three weeks with no offer. I suspect they found someone more suitable or that my salary expectations are too high for them. Given my PhD, I might be overqualified, and they might not be accustomed to someone with my educational background in this small branch of Sanmina. They might also think I wouldn't stay long due to the salary difference.
- Given your strong background, do you believe this role is a good fit for you?
- Considering the salary for this role is significantly lower than your current earnings, are you still interested in pursuing this opportunity?
