SanDisk General Intern Interview Questions
& Process

I applied via a job board and was contacted about two weeks later by an HR recruiter. They said my resume matched an open intern position and wanted to meet for a face-to-face interview. After some phone tag, we set up an interview for the next week. I was supposed to interview with four people (the recruiter and three potential coworkers), with each interview lasting thirty minutes. When I arrived, the HR recruiter was busy and couldn't make it, so a replacement HR recruiter came in. This replacement was new and didn't know enough to answer my questions about the company's hiring trends or the department staff. The people I interviewed with were nice, but I was surprised they asked very few questions, and none were personal or meaningful. They mainly asked about my school choice, my knowledge of SanDisk, and how the position aligns with my career goals. They didn't ask about my resume, experiences, skills, or qualifications. The interviews mostly turned into me asking questions and making small talk about the company and the role. Some of the answers I got were long-winded and not very relevant. Two days later, the initial HR recruiter sent a generic rejection email saying my background didn't fit, but they'd keep my resume on file.

Sandisk came to our college to hire interns from the 3rd year. Initially, there was a written test with MCQs on aptitude and programming, plus two coding questions. About 15 students got shortlisted from the written test for the technical interview. My interview experience was terrible; they interviewed everyone but accidentally forgot my name. When I inquired, they admitted it was an error and I had to wait about 4 hours for my first round, as they began interviewing final year students. During my wait, other students even had their HR rounds. My turn finally came, but the interview felt like a mere formality for the interviewer. He asked me a few questions and then rejected me.

The interview starts with a phone call, and if that goes well, you'll have an on-site interview where you'll meet with multiple people. It's a pretty standard process, nothing out of the ordinary, and the questions are typical strength/weaknesses/behavioral/why hire me types. Some of the interviewers were really nice and it felt like a normal conversation.
