It was a friendly process. We talked about culture. Everyone at the company is really friendly and they have an incredible onboarding process. There are a lot of different groups with the company and they do job fairs where you can see other areas that they are doing work in.

The interview process involved a phone screen, an eight-person panel interview, and a two-person panel interview. It took three months to complete. HR made a mistake with the final interview, causing more delays. After the last interview, they requested three references from past employers. One of my references mentioned they were asked if I would be interested in moving up in my career, and they said yes. The manager indicated they were seeking someone who would stay in the role long-term, and I wasn't chosen. It felt like Sandia was looking for someone content in one position without seeking advancement, so I'm actually glad I didn't get the job.

Presentation Behavioral Technical

The interview process spanned two days and involved meeting with 15 individuals. I delivered a presentation focused on my Ph.D. research. The interviews were quite informal, with most of the time dedicated to me asking questions about Sandia National Laboratories and the surrounding city. Only a few questions were directly related to my presentation, and there were no other technical questions. A significant portion of the interview time was spent with me inquiring about the interviewers' research.
