Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
Intern
It was a really strange interview. The person interviewing me kept looking away, and the conversation felt off. Near the end, they asked a question that made no sense. I wrote it down and asked other people, and nobody knew what they were talking about.
- In what ways would your previous experiences enable you to excel in this position?
Internship
It was a Zoom interview. They asked standard questions and some art-specific ones. Honestly, they seemed disinterested in the answers. It wasn't particularly difficult, though. The link they sent didn't work, and the interviewers were very late.
- Who are some of your favorite artists?
- Can you tell me about yourself?
- What are your thoughts on SFMOMA?
Intern
It was an easy behavioral interview. Mostly talking about my interests and goals. No technical questions were asked. The interviewer was nice and I got my follow-up very soon after. The whole process was very transparent. I recommend applying to more positions if possible in case you don’t get your first choice.
- What are your goals in the position?
