First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at San Antonio College.
Assistant Professor
Got an email to set up a Zoom interview to discuss my background, the role, and my CV. The hiring committee let me know the general topics they'd be asking about. I then had a 45-minute interview with a panel where they asked a set of standard questions. It finished with a Q/A session about the job and the college.
- Can you share an example of a mistake you made while teaching a class and explain how you resolved it?
Enrollment Coach
After applying on the ACD careers website, I got an email about 2 months later to schedule a ZOOM interview. It was with the head of admissions and head of marketing. It was a standard interview asking about my past experience, lasting about 25 minutes. They offered $43K to start, and fully covered the medical premium. The interviewers seemed disinterested, like they were just going through the motions. When I asked about work-life balance, the head of admissions mentioned that most enrollment coaches work at least 45+ hours, often more, calling it a 'personal choice.' This was just the first interview; there will be 2-3 more. A background check and drug screen are also required.
- Can you define what excellent customer service entails for you?
Academic Program Specialist
The interview process was very good and inviting. Library staff and English faculty were very helpful during the interview. Overall, it was a really good experience, and I didn't feel a lot of pressure at any point.
- Describe your tutoring methodology.
Tutor
I had some initial discussions with the director. After that, a job opening came up and I submitted my application online. Next, I participated in a group interview with the directors of two different departments.
