I saw the job posting online, sent my application via email and heard back in two days to arrange a phone interview. The CFO spoke with me, asking general questions about my background and what I was looking for, and then set up an in-person interview for the next week. At the on-site, I first met with HR, and then had a more detailed discussion with the lab manager where I was asked specific chemistry-related questions. They showed me around the lab, and I got an offer a few weeks later.

I had two phone interviews initially. The first was a general chat about my experience and some personality questions with HR. The second was with a manager and focused more on my technical skills. After the second phone interview, I was told I got the job and just needed to come in for paperwork. However, when I went to fill out the paperwork, I ended up having two more interviews in the office with the CEO and another manager. It was kind of annoying because I thought the interviews were done after the second phone call. Those last two interviews in the office were about an hour and 20 minutes each. The company is really small, like 20 people, and they didn't seem to have a clear plan for the future. Plus, the starting salary was way below what's normal, though they talked about a big jump (like 5x) in 2-3 years, but didn't explain how that would happen in such a small company or what the company's goals were.
