So I went through a few rounds of interviews which were pretty good, but the last one with the 'prime' team felt off. The panel seemed uninterested from the start. It was only 25 minutes long, way shorter than I'd expect for a final interview, and I barely got to ask any questions because of a hard stop. It felt like they'd already made up their minds. The discussion didn't even match the job description, and they asked me about a tool not on my resume that seemed crucial, which was weird and inconsistent. The interview itself was super rigid, like rapid-fire questions with no real back-and-forth. Plus, there were annoying distractions like typing and notifications in the background. It just didn't feel very professional. I'm concerned about the whole candidate experience because of the lack of engagement, the misalignment with the role, and how the interview was structured.

Behavioral Presentation

I had one on one interviews with the Director, Sr. Vice President, and CEO. Spent one hour with each of them to explain my background and learn about the company. I got a sense of the culture of the company, the people I would be working for, and the job responsibilities. The overall experience of this interview was great since it was broken up into an initial interview at the office then a follow up. So I got to see what the place and people were like on more than one occasion.

The hiring process was pretty standard. A recruiter from Talent Operations contacted me, asked some basic questions about my background, skills, and salary expectations. After I passed her initial phone screen, she scheduled an interview with the hiring manager about a week later. I spoke with a Program Manager who described the role and the client. He then asked me about my experience with specific software delivery methods, Agile methodologies, risk management, and the triple constraint.

HR reached out and scheduled an interview. Then I met with a decision-maker. Hiring folks contacted me about benefits and salary. I was directed to an online portal for a background check. Once that cleared and we agreed on terms, they sent paperwork to fill out beforehand. Then I went to the office to sign. It was super easy! Depending on the contract, a federal background check might be needed, which can take time, but that's not Salient's fault.
