First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Saint Petersburg State.
Graduate Student
Two professors asked me some technical questions about math. They gave me a list of 8 math topics, and I had to pick 4. Then they asked questions only about the topics I chose.
- Could you describe Dijkstra's algorithm and explain the necessity of non-negative weights for it?
Assistant Professor
My interview had two parts: first, a phone call with a senior lecturer, and then an in-person interview with the head of the department. After that, there's a long process: first, a special resoursement committee reviews my application. Then, the members of my future department vote. Finally, there's a closed vote by the faculty academic council.
- Tell me about your current practical skills.
- What's your work experience in practical healthcare?
- How do you fare with academic writing?
Guitar Tutor
The head of the Arts department asked me a lot of questions about what I planned to teach, my previous experience, and just about me in general. I also had to talk about my own music background: playing with bands, how I picked up playing and where I learned, etc. The interviewer was really nice and helpful.
- Regarding music theory, what specific aspects will you be teaching?
- Could you share the number of students you've worked with previously?
- Tell me about your personal music experience, including playing in bands and your learning journey.
Lecturer
they wanted to check my language skills, my education background, find out my career intentions, and also learn about my research field and connections with foreign Universities. The work culture and people are pretty much the same as in other Universities, mostly focused on their scientific field. The working atmosphere is pretty chill, no conflict.
- What do you envision for your future career?
- Can you tell me about your past internship experiences?
