Peer Tutor
The interview process went really well. I felt like my supervisors had my back, and the students were awesome to work with. I'd tell anyone who's thinking about it to go for it.
- What makes you want to be a peer tutor?
Instructor
I got an email asking if I was free for an online interview happening in two days. It was super short notice, which made me think they just needed someone quick. The interview was on Zoom. The committee seemed to know each other well, sharing laughs I wasn't part of. Honestly, the whole thing felt awkward; I couldn't really connect with them. I haven't heard back, so I guess it didn't work out, which I kind of felt during the interview too.
- Given that the Storytelling for Impact class is currently unstaffed for the fall semester, what would be your approach to teaching it?
Other
It took ages to even get an interview, and then it took ages after that to find out I was the top candidate and get called back for another interview. Both times I met with a group of interviewers, and it didn't seem super organized. Then, at the second interview, I had a meeting with a VP. That VP was really sharp and actually made me want to work there.
- Could you tell me about your strengths and weaknesses?
- In what ways do you think you'd fit into our company culture?
- Could you explain what our company's mission is, using your own words?
Adjunct Faculty
I sent in my resume, then had a chat with the program director. They asked me to send over some of my work and we talked about different situations that might come up in a classroom. We also went over the LMS system and I gave some examples. I got the job offer the very next day.
- Can you give examples of the kind of teaching you like best?
- What are your preferred teaching methods?
- Tell me about the teaching styles you tend to use.
