First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Saint-Gobain North America.
HR Position
I was really excited to interview with Saint-Gobain. A recruiter reached out and we had a first round interview, and I felt like we clicked. I was told I'd hear back in two weeks, but it took three weeks. I reached out multiple times and finally got a response that they've been busy and hoped to get back to the role. Another week went by with no word. I reached out again and was told "next week", but again, no contact. It was super disappointing, especially for someone in HR. I felt strung along with really poor communication, and I even asked directly if I was no longer in the running. The interview itself was a standard first round HR interview, but unfortunately, I was strung along for over a month.
- How large was the team you managed?
Research Engineer
I'd advise people to avoid interviewing here and save their time. The interviews were all online. I went through multiple interviews for different roles, from the recruiter call all the way to the panel interview, but the company never provided any updates after the final panel interviews. They might be a large company, but they're incredibly bureaucratic and disrespectful of candidates' time. I even had to use a vacation day for one panel interview, and they didn't seem to care. They could have at least told me they weren't moving forward. I'd tell anyone considering investing their time in interviewing here to stay away.
- Can you describe how you approached solving a technical challenge?
R&D Engineer
I had a brief phone chat with HR, then a 30-minute meeting with the hiring manager. If they liked me, I'd get invited for a full day interview at their office.
- How would you describe your management style?
Senior Data Scientist
I had an initial chat with the hiring manager, who seemed really impressed with my background. After that, I spoke with HR. The HR person felt like they were trying to downplay my resume. They mentioned the job offer would be $110k if I got through the interviews. I turned it down and stopped the process. Honestly, $110k for a senior data scientist role in the Boston area in 2024? And they want to finalize the salary before the interviews are even done?!
- The hiring manager asked standard questions about my experience.
- The HR representative asked manipulative questions that seemed to question my work experience.
