First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Saint Barnabas Medical Center.
Volunteer
The interviewer started off by asking three random questions: if I picked three people to live in this world with who would it be, my favorite desert place, and one last thing; then transitioned to the interview.
- Why do you want to volunteer?
- What do you contribute?
Registered Nurse
I applied online and heard back pretty fast. First, I met with the nurse recruiter who asked me some basic questions about my background and explained how the hiring process works. She told me about the starting pay and extra pay like for having my BSN, working nights, PTO, and vacation time, and the potential start date. Then, the nurse manager for the unit I applied to interviewed me in her office. She asked me more detailed questions, including some scenario-based ones to check my skills. After that, two other nurses joined, and they asked me a few more scenario questions. The whole thing took less than 30 minutes. It seemed to go well, and I got a job offer that same afternoon.
- Describe a time you experienced a misunderstanding with a patient and outline the steps you would take to address it.
Physician Assistant
Had a really comfortable chat with Dr Klion, and they even gave me a full tour of the place. I met a bunch of people and got shown around. I answered some questions about my rotations, my background, and my interest in ortho. I let them know that same night I was interested, and they called me Monday to offer me the job.
- What's your interest in surgery or orthopedics?
- Can you share any memorable cases you observed during your rotations?
Clinical Assistant
Very long interview process. Unorganized. Long wait time to get to next section of interview. The peer interview was horrible. The person said she would call in 24 hours to give a reply with the yes or no and never called. Everything I answered the person would question me about it or overall they made no sense.
- Tell me about your biggest failure.
- What is the reason for the delay in completing your degree?
