Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Sainsbury’s.
Retail Assistant
It was a very simple interview, I came in and had a chat with the interviewer. The questions were generally simple. The interviewer asked two questions, but it mainly seemed like they really wanted to hire me because they are really short-staffed at the Sainsbury's at the moment.
- How would you handle busy periods?
Retail Store Assistant
I really liked the experience in 2021. It felt welcoming from the start, and the people were nice and easy to talk to. The interviewer made me feel good, asking interesting questions that let me really be myself. I liked how the interview was set up, which showed me what the company cares about and what they expect. It was about more than just my skills, it was about seeing if I'd fit with the team. The talk just flowed, so it felt more like a chat than an interview.
No confirmed questions were included in this interview report.
Retail Assistant
It was a really straightforward interview process. Mostly just a casual chat where they asked about my previous experience in retail jobs and some situational questions. They also asked about my availability. It felt like a standard interview, and honestly, if you get this far, you're pretty much guaranteed the job.
- Can you give an example of a time you assisted a customer?
- Tell me about your past experience working in retail.
- Describe a situation where you had to deal with a challenging customer.
