First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Sage.
UX Designer
So I was invited to 2 interviews at the same time, which were stages 3 and 4 of the Graduate UX Designer recruitment. This was after I'd already done online tests and a video interview 9 months prior. I took 3 days off work to prep and do these. The first interview was a group session with the other 2 candidates. We were given a task to test collaboration: imagine we're on a burning yacht and have to choose limited items for the lifeboat from a list. We debated what to take and why. It was fun, but weird collaborating with my competition on a video call. The second interview was supposed to be a 'competency' interview with me and 2 people from the Sage UX team. But only 1 person showed up, which I found unprofessional; I'd expect a reschedule. They started by telling me about themselves and their role, then asked me to 'tell me about yourself'. That was the only question, and I was expected to give a presentation of my whole career without prompts. I was totally thrown as I didn't expect this format and asked if I needed to prepare examples beforehand, and was told no because it wasn't that kind of interview. So when they asked to see my UX work, I had to scramble. They never got back to me with feedback, even after I emailed twice. I was ghosted after 4 stages, 3 days off work, and a 9-month wait.
- So why don't you tell me about yourself?
UX Researcher
I was sent a link for an online interview, which I finished within the given time. After waiting a couple of weeks, I got the same email with the same link again. I emailed HR to ask if I should do it over, but they never replied. I did the interview again anyway, and then got no response. It was a pretty bad experience because they didn't communicate well.
- Why are you interested in this role?
UX Designer
After applying, I had a video interview with about 5-6 questions, which was easy to start. Then, they invited me to an online assessment because of COVID. It was a relaxed environment with friendly people. I and others participated in a team activity to show our teamwork and decision-making skills. Finally, I had a one-hour interview with two people from Sage where I discussed my experience and gave a short presentation.
- Could you please prepare and deliver a presentation titled "Why Me?"
- What were your responsibilities in your previous role at Accenture?
- Can you tell us about the impact your designed apps and websites had?
