I met with the account manager after waiting about 5 minutes. We had a casual chat about my background, and then I asked some questions about the job and the company. The account manager was professional in their responses. I felt I was overqualified for this role.

I interviewed with the store manager in Stamford, CT, who has been with the company for a long time. I have a background in interior design and previously worked for a design firm. This role was for an interior design/sales position, with a base salary plus commission. I figured even if I hit my targets, the earnings would be around 50K to 60K at most. Another issue for me was that new hires, no matter their experience level, have to work weekends for the first three months. Considering the low base salary, the uncertainty of commission earnings, I decided to decline the offer. I did like the store manager, and I met the owner too, and they were all very nice. I could see they needed some help because the Stamford store is a bit overwhelming with its styling and room setups.

The interview process started with a first round video call with the Department Manager. They explained the position and asked about my previous experience. After that, I had a second round in-person interview. First, I met with the department manager again, and then with the HR manager. Both interviews were relaxed. The second interview was more focused on getting to know me as a person.

It was not really an interview, more like an interrogation. I had to go in 4 times and meet different people who did various things. Each time, they asked me the same questions, but from different people. It wasn't really about learning about me, but more about who I knew.
