First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Sacramento City USD.
Child Development Teacher
You'll have a panel interview with three to twelve people. They'll ask about five to eight questions covering your qualifications, strengths, weaknesses, and how you'd handle situations like a child acting out or dealing with a tough parent. They also asked about classroom setup and your educational background.
- What makes you a good fit for this job?
- Tell me about your strengths.
- What are your weaknesses?
Intern
I went through a staffing agency, Community College foundation, and had two interviews. I didn't get the job at first, but then I got an offer two weeks later. They had hired someone else, a friend of the manager, but he left because there were no benefits. So I was the second choice, and they ended up keeping me for four years. They really liked me and couldn't believe they almost didn't hire me.
No confirmed questions were included in this interview report.
Mathematics Teacher
After applying to SCUSD HR, principals got in touch pretty quickly. Each school had its own questions and you could interview at as many places as you wanted. They were fast to let you know if they wanted to hire you or not after the interview.
- What is your strategy for managing a student who is both disengaged and disruptive?
- Could you present a sample lesson plan?
- What would you say is your greatest strength?
Music Teacher
The interviews usually include a tour and a talk with the principal and a lead teacher. I was asked to talk about myself and my accomplishments. I was also asked how would I handle teaching students of different cognitive functions in the same classroom.
- Would you be willing to obtain a PE authorization?
