First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Saatva.
Sales Lead
I applied for the Sales lead role and got a quick response. The first interview was with someone who was outside and had bad service, which caused his screen to go out mid-interview. After service was restored, he said that was all he needed and someone else would contact me for round two. I never heard back, and it felt like my time wasn't valued or the interview wasn't taken seriously. Seeing the people hired now, I can understand why.
- Can you elaborate on your sales experience?
Sales Associate
I went through the interview process for a Lead Sales Associate role at Saatva. I put in a lot of work preparing, looking into the company, rehearsing my answers, and getting good questions ready. The interview itself was a really good chat, and they told me I'd hear back by Friday, no matter what. They even had me pencil in some possible start dates, which seemed like a good sign, but then I never heard anything back at all - no call, no email, not even a rejection notice. It's understandable that not everyone gets picked, but it's important to be professional. We spend time and energy on these interviews, so a quick update would have been nice to wrap things up. If they expect us to be ready, engaged, and communicate well, we should expect the same from them. I hope Saatva can step up its follow-up game so everyone gets clear and timely information. At the very least, companies shouldn't ask candidates to tentatively hold onboarding dates unless they're really serious about hiring them.
- What prompted your departure from your previous role?
Customer Service Representative
I applied for the Customer Service Representative role at the new San Francisco showroom. The HR Coordinator called me back the same day to discuss my background and the job. Then, the VP of Retail reviewed my resume and set up another chat. I got offered the job about a week later with a pay rate a bit higher than the start. I turned it down though because the health insurance was way pricier than my current plan. The whole process was super easy, and everyone seemed really passionate about the company and its great work environment.
- Tell me about a time you dealt with a challenging customer and what steps you took to resolve the issue.
Digital Marketing Director
The interview process was pretty long and a bit of a drag, starting with a recruiter call that was kinda disappointing because they didn't seem to know much about the role or company. After that, it was a phone call with the hiring manager, followed by a take-home assignment that we reviewed over video. Then, there was another video chat with a senior manager, and finally, one more video chat with a C-level executive. I never heard back after the last one, which again, was mostly on the recruiter. The company seems to be growing and experiencing some growing pains, and it felt like they weren't super organized. The benefits they mentioned were pretty weak. I wish them well, but I might have dodged a bullet.
- Can you share your professional journey and what brings you to this opportunity?
- What's the one thing that would be a dealbreaker for you regarding this position?
- What industry benchmarks would you employ to gauge success?
