The interview process started with a recruiter call, then a meeting with the hiring manager a few days later to discuss the role and my experience. It was a pleasant conversation focused on the company's growth and upcoming workload. About two weeks later, I had a half-day in-person interview with about five managers and engineers. There was some initial confusion with directions upon arrival, but after that, things were well-organized. The interviews themselves varied; some were typical questions, others more conversational. Everyone was friendly and respected my time. Afterwards, the hiring manager gave me a tour, leading to more casual discussion about the company and the role. The process wasn't difficult but was quite tiring. While I put a lot of effort into making a good impression, they didn't seem very invested in selling the role to me, perhaps due to many applicants. About two days after sending thank-you emails with no response, I got an automated rejection email with no explanation. I asked the hiring manager for feedback but still haven't heard back after almost a week. While they didn't make me wait too long, the lack of feedback leaves me rating it as a neutral experience.

A recruiter reached out about a fairly senior role. After I cleared that initial screen, they followed up the next day stating my salary expectations might be too high. They asked for the absolute minimum I would accept. I mentioned I couldn't provide that without more information about the company and meeting people. So, they set up an HR interview with a specific contact. When the interview time arrived, I was interviewed by two engineers who asked me really technical questions for about 50 minutes. I answered, but honestly, I was a bit annoyed when they insisted on an optimization algorithm to solve a problem that has a straightforward geometrical solution. I told them I'd look it up, and they pushed until I gave them the algorithm answer. It felt like a pretty nonsensical process overall.

The first interview was on campus with HR and was mostly behavioural questions and they asked about my interest in staying with the company long-term. Then there was a full day on-site interview where I met with each manager from different departments for about an hour. They either reviewed my resume if my background wasn't directly related to their technical area, or asked technical questions that weren't too hard if it was. My advice is to be positive, know your resume inside and out, and be strong technically in at least one engineering field.
