Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Rutherford County Schools.
Educator
The principal was very nice and welcoming when she interviewed me. She did a great job of representing the school. I felt like she was very prepared for my interview. I had a follow-up interview with some of the teachers and that was extremely professional.
- Can you share your teaching experience?
Teacher
The principal was awful and the team that interviewed me wasn’t even on the teaching team. The year ended up being absolutely awful, and I really wish I'd picked up on the signs from the very beginning.
- How do you approach solving difficult problems?
Substitute Teacher
You do online training and tests first. After finishing the online stuff, you need to get fingerprinted and pay about $30 for a background check. Once that's cleared, your name and info get shown to the school board at their next meeting. The whole thing took me a few months.
- What motivates you to pursue a role as a substitute teacher?
- Describe your approach to managing a student who is defiant and unwilling to follow instructions.
