First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Russian School Of Mathematics.
Math Teacher
It was pretty straightforward. They asked about my experience, then explained the position. I had to take a test to show I knew the subject well, and then pick my availability. The test could be on different grade levels; I chose 10th grade math.
- Could you tell me about yourself?
IT Specialist
Got an email from HR to set up a call. During the call, the HR person talked about my job and asked me about my past experiences. After that, I had an interview with the department manager where we talked about the future work and projects I could help with. Lastly, I got the job offer.
- Can you tell me about your experience with Active Directory domains?
- What is your experience with networking concepts?
Office Administrator
The initial interview was a screening phone call, though it was set up via text messages. About 10 minutes before it was supposed to start, I got a Zoom link. They asked me some basic questions about why I applied. The person said the school principal would call me within two days to set up an in-person interview. I followed up after about 3 days because I hadn't heard back, but the lady never replied. Around a week later, I got a text from the principal to see if I could come in for an in-person interview. She was nice, and I enjoyed talking with her, except for the math test she brought up unexpectedly. I took the test and also did some front desk assessments. I was told I'd hear back in 2-3 days. I followed up twice, by email and text. They never got back to me at all. It's been over two weeks since then.
- What makes you want to work at this company?
- How do you deal with stressful situations?
- What is your approach to handling an upset parent?
Teacher
I put in my application on the website and got a call to talk a bit about myself. Then, I was invited for an interview which had three parts. The first part was a face-to-face interview, the second was a written test, and the final part was a classroom presentation. The math test is pretty straightforward if you already like math, but if not, you might want to practice a bit beforehand.
