It started with a quick call from the recruiter to go over some basic stuff about Rush and the pay for the job. I liked that they were upfront about the salary. Then, I interviewed with the Accounts Payable Supervisor, Manager, and Team Lead from the Exceptions team. Since I was being considered for three different roles, I met with each of them. They explained the positions and asked me basic accounting questions. You should totally watch a YouTube video about Accounts Payable before you interview.

It was a pretty weird process. First, I got this psych test in my email out of the blue, no context or anything. I just took it. Then, about a week later, they reached out about an interview, which ended up being scheduled a few weeks after that. The HR person chatted with me a bunch, making it sound like a really involved process. When I finally got to the interviews, I met with four different teams. The whole thing lasted over two hours, and I thought it went really well. Honestly, I was expecting an offer, but I haven't heard anything back in a month, not even a call or email.

The interview process felt a bit disconnected, as the interviewers didn't seem to have direct experience with the role, even struggling with concepts like competency modelling. The questions were mostly general, focusing more on assessing cultural alignment and confidence in your knowledge. It felt like if you sounded knowledgeable, you'd get the offer. This is for a company that's been around for 48 years and doesn't have a dedicated training department, as the CEO isn't a big proponent of training.

It was a super casual interview process, but with so many people applying for the same internship, it felt pretty competitive. I went in with a good vibe, trying to make them laugh. I even sent two follow-up emails after the interview, joking about thanking them and making their day harder. Out of 10 applicants, I got the job because they said I 'had character'.
