First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Rudy's Barbershop.
Hair Dresser Stylist Barber
The interview process involves a technical interview with two models, one for a long cut and one for a clipper cut. There's also a behavioral interview. The interview usually takes place at the main store in the city, and they'll give you a tour of the place.
- Are you comfortable taking walk-in clients?
- How do you feel about selling products to clients?
Hair Stylist
First round: Called into a room, sit on a dirty couch, talk about industry stuff. Second round: Come back with two models. Cut and style their hair. If you're hired, you find out right away.
- Are you comfortable doing color?
Stylist
I first had a phone chat. Then came a practical, face-to-face interview. It was conversational. After that, I did a long layer haircut and then a short fade haircut. I had about 2 hours total for both. I got the job on the spot!
- Do you perform hair coloring services?
- Would hair coloring be part of your duties if you were hired?
Receptionist
So, I wasn't expecting to be interviewed by 5 people all at once, and they were all running about 30 minutes late. Some of the jokes during the interview made me uncomfortable, and I felt a lot of pressure to be funny or entertaining, which was hard given the unprofessional vibe that was throwing me off.
- One of the interviewers asked me what product I would recommend for his hair and expected a serious answer.
