Rubicon Project General Intern Interview Questions
& Process

I submitted my resume at the campus career fair and was invited to their office for "internship" day about a month later. In the morning, we learned about the company, its offices, and different divisions. The interviews ran from 12:45 PM to 5:00 PM. My interview was 20 minutes long and conducted via Skype since the sub-office is in San Francisco. Everyone I met was very nice and helpful, making it a pleasant experience. About a quarter of the candidates were selected in the end.

The first step was a phone screen, then a Skype call. If you passed those, you were invited to 'internship day'. On internship day, managers will introduce you to the company, the office, and the team. After that, you will have interviews with the team that was interested in you initially. Each interview is 20 minutes long. You also get to interview with another team you are interested in.

I had a good interview experience with Rubicon Project, referred by a friend. All interviews were onsite, and travel was not reimbursed. On the interview day, all intern candidates attended a company presentation by the co-founder and CTO, covering what they do and their culture. I didn't know much about tRP beforehand and expected a tough interview for a small-medium company, but it was surprisingly simple. I mainly discussed my experiences and academic projects, with very few technical questions, possibly due to the informal intern hiring process. I could interview with multiple teams. The interviewers were pleasant and highly technical, explaining their projects well.
