First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Royal Vopak.
Business Analyst
It was online, then first interview was HR screening questions. Second interview with the hiring manager, then an online test. Standard one calculations and behavioral one. Then final interview with leadership.
- Tell me why Vopak.
- What are your career goals for the next 5 years?
- Do you have prior experience with reporting systems?
Terminal Operator
I had a 4-person panel interview. Three folks were leads or supervisors, and there was the hiring manager. They asked normal questions about my experience and if I could handle myself in different scenarios. After the interview, they gave me a tour to show me the workspace and what the job entails.
- Can you change a tire?
- Do you understand bolt patterns?
- If you reported a flat tire, would you be able to fix it?
Procurement Manager
Before going to the interview, I looked up the interviewers on LinkedIn to learn about them. On the day of the interview, I ran into the hiring manager in the hallway and greeted them. The manager then became very angry. The four of us went to the conference room, and the manager said the interview would be very quick as they didn't have much time. I asked if they wanted to reschedule. I felt they might have been having a bad day and took it out on me. The atmosphere was very negative. The other two interviewers seemed shocked and tried to ease the tension. I decided to withdraw my interest and was glad to leave.
- Can you describe your policy for when X happens?
Commercial and Marketing
It was a really thorough and tough interview process. There were about 4-5 rounds, both virtual and in-person, involving HR, the hiring manager, and even a very senior leader. I had to complete aptitude assessments like Korn Ferry and Hogan. Even though I did well on those and got positive feedback from the face-to-face interviews, I didn't end up getting the job. It felt like a waste of time, maybe it's a company thing to hire proactively rather than for an actual opening.
- Which role do you believe is the most suitable for you and why?
