The process started with an online assessment, followed by a SIFT Interview. After that, there was an in-person assessment board (AIB). The final stage was a challenging but rewarding 5-day in-person residential interview that included physical fitness assessments, mental assessments, and job role experiences. They recognized hard work and gave continuous feedback.

They really try to sell the job to you, talking about seeing the world, though it's not as much of that anymore. The interview itself isn't too difficult, provided you show you're willing to do basic tasks like cleaning, maintaining good hygiene, and ironing.

I had a phone interview first where they tested my general knowledge on the RN. After that, I took the naval service recruitment test at an AFCO. The results of this test determine your eligibility for different roles, and it can vary based on how others performed and the service demands at the time you take it, so it's something to plan for. Then I visited a base, and 6 months later, I sat the AIB. After that, I got a conditional offer with a start date, and then the final start date within a week of completing everything.

It was a drawn out but simple process. We started with an initial discussion at AFCO, then there was a Recruit Test which included Verbal reasoning, Mathematical Reasoning, and Mechanical Comprehension. After that, there was a Fitness Test, followed by an Interview. The final stages were a 2 day Pre joining Course at HMS Collingwood before starting the 10 week basic training at HMS Raleigh.
