First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Royal Farms Stores.
Food Service Manager
The interview happened at the store, and I got an offer. After accepting, there was about a month and a half wait for HR stuff before I could start. There was a 2-3 day training at another location, then I was good to go.
- They really wanted to know about my schedule flexibility.
- How adaptable are you to different work hours?
Shift Leader
I went in for my interview and immediately saw a red flag: another person was already waiting while the interviewer was meeting with someone else. They scheduled us back-to-back, and it was in the front waiting area with limited tables and seats for indoor customers. The bathrooms were right next to it, leading to constant noise and distractions. Also, the woman before me was all dolled up – I mean, does she know this is a gas station? She had on makeup.
- Can you tell me a little about yourself?
Customer Service Associate
I interviewed with a manager in training and a Store Leader. It felt pretty laid back, but they still hit all the usual questions. We did the interview in the store's eating area, and it wasn't long, maybe 30 minutes max. They were nice, trying to put me at ease when they saw I was nervous. After the questions, we talked about pay and when I could start. I was supposed to come back a week later for another chat, but they ended up hiring me and I just did the paperwork. It took about 3 weeks to officially start working.
- What qualities do you think are necessary for this job?
- How do you cope with stress?
- Are you able to repeatedly lift 50 pounds?
Customer Service Associate
I was interviewing for a job for a new location at another location. I got there a bit early and had to wait about 10 minutes for the manager. The manager asked me to introduce myself and describe how I've handled stressful situations and how I would deal with customers. Then they inquired about my past experiences and skills that might be useful for the role. They also asked about my availability and said I'd hear back soon if they wanted to hire me.
- Could you describe a recent stressful situation you experienced and how you managed it?
- How would you go about resolving an issue a customer might be facing?
