Applied online and recruiter reached out to schedule interview within a couple days. That's where my positive experience ended. Recruiter didn't seem interested in me or engaged. Right off the bat, I was asked if I had any questions—as if we were wrapping up the interview with 25 minutes left. When I started to ask questions, I was interrupted and asked to share my background. This interview was all over the place. When I asked about the culture, the recruiter said it was great because they hired everyone. Seemed bias and a Red Flag. At this point, I wasn't interested in moving forward.

Just wanted to share a heads-up about potential scams out there. I got an interview request from Rothy's via Indeed, and it seemed super legit, asking all the right questions for a designer role. But, the interview was on Skype and not a video call, which felt off. It was supposed to be 30 minutes but dragged on for almost 2 hours, which was another big red flag. They were super eager to hire me, and then they wanted to send me a check to buy equipment from a specific vendor. I called Rothy's directly and confirmed it was a scam; they were even using the actual HR person's info. So, just be careful, everyone!

I recently interviewed for the VP of Product Development & Production role at Rothy’s and was very impressed by how professional and human the process felt. From the first conversation with Kara Eula, who showed a surprising depth of footwear and sourcing knowledge, to my discussion with Michelle Velasquez Pulido, the Chief People Officer, every step was well-organized, transparent, and engaging. Although I wasn’t selected for the final round, I appreciated the swift communication and the respect shown throughout the process. It’s clear that Rothy’s practices the same curiosity, empathy, and integrity it’s known for as a brand. A genuinely positive candidate experience that left a great impression.

I had a great interview experience! It started with a phone screen with a really prepared recruiter, then another one with the hiring manager. During the onsite, everyone was well-prepared and asked thoughtful questions. The HR coordinator was super organized and paid attention to everything. They asked me to do a presentation on a problem they gave me beforehand. The recruiter followed up pretty quickly for the Bay Area, even though I didn't get an offer. Rothy's looks like a cool place to work, especially if you know retail and merchandising.
